Nicole Ari Parker is an American film TV and stage actor known for her performance as the spirited lawyer Teri Joseph in the Showtime series Soul Food. Following her wedding, she was Nikki Kodjoe. The talent she displayed in her acting was apparent since childhood. In a Maryland high school contest gave her the top actress prize. Following her time in acting and in "The Washington Ballet Company" She was awarded an acting degree at the New York University. Contractor, who was born in Mumbai and lived in Nigeria over seven years, experienced a variety of trips and experiences in the world of culture at an early age. At the age of seven through nine, she was a student at boarding schools in London. Her family then relocated to Toronto and she resided there throughout her early years. Contractor was a wonderful pupil in Toronto and educated to become a classical ballet dancer. She attended an Etobicoke School of the Arts which is a highly specialized public arts high school, where she was not just a dancer but also studied theatre. At 16 after a decade of years of dancing, Contractor discovered she was looking to study acting professionally. After graduating high school, she received a full-time award to Toronto's University of Toronto, where she pursued a masters in theatre and a double major in sociology and psychology. Contractor auditioned at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After an entire year of auditions, she was offered the role of lead. In 2002, Canadian theater critics were awed by her performance during 92 performances of Pericles. Contractor was given the chance to take part in the conservatory course, in which only eight males and four women are accepted for a 20-week crash course on the classical stage that she gladly accepted. Her place in the upcoming stage season was securing and she was chosen of Hermia.
